This anatomically optimized cup was created to address common limitations of conventional menstrual cups. Leia menstrual cup is designed both for women who are new to menstrual cups and for those whose anatomy has changed over time.
If you are considering your first cup and feel concerned about insertion, discomfort, or fit, Leia was developed to make the transition easier. Its angled, anatomical shape follows the natural curvature of the vaginal canal. This alignment reduces pressure against the vaginal walls and allows for smoother, more intuitive insertion.

When Your Previous Cup No Longer Fits
Vaginal anatomy can change due to childbirth, pelvic floor dysfunction, a low cervix, or early-stage pelvic organ prolapse. Women with stage 1 prolapse, cystocele, or rectocele often report that traditional straight-shaped cups feel too long, cause pressure, leak, or gradually shift downward during the day.
The reinforced support ring at the top of the cup provides structural stability for weakened pelvic floor muscles. Instead of collapsing under pressure or being displaced by surrounding tissues, the cup maintains its shape and position. This added support helps reduce leakage and the sensation of downward movement, even in cases of mild cystocele or rectocele.

WHO SHOULD NOT USE LEIA
While Leia is safe for most women, it may not be suitable in the following cases:
Virgins with an intact hymen
Although menstrual cups can be used by virgins, Leia’s firmer silicone design provides added structural support and may not be ideal for women with a fully intact hymen. A softer, smaller cup may be more appropriate.
Moderate to severe pelvic organ prolapse
Leia is not a medical device and does not function as a pessary. It is not recommended for women with prolapse beyond stage 0-1( POP-Q system)
Medical contraindications
After a clinical examination, your healthcare provider may determine that you have contraindications to using a menstrual cup, such as:
- A history of Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS)
- Active vaginal or pelvic infections
- Certain cervical conditions
- Any contraindication to internal menstrual products advised by your healthcare provider

- A menstrual cup is one of the most convenient, economical, and environmentally-friendly forms of menstrual health management and protection.
- * The FDA recommends, but does not require, tampon and sanitary pad manufacturers to disclose the materials and chemicals in their products (FDA, 2005). People may be unaware of toxins, particularly dioxins, contained in these products (WHO, 2016). Although the FDA considers the threat from dioxins in tampons to be “negligible,” no studies have tested diffusion of dioxins from tampons in vivo or for the cumulative impact of exposure over a lifetime (Weir, 2015; Dudley et al., 2018). Additionally, tampons and pads carry the threat of Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) (Wendee, 2014). Menstrual cups, by contrast, are hypoallergenic and carry a very low reported risk of TSS; medical-grade silicone does not significantly support the growth of the bacterium S. aureus, which is associated with TSS (Tierno, 1994; North & Oldham, 2011; van Eijk et al., 2019).
- IMPORTANT NOTICE: Despite their very low reported risk, menstrual cups have been associated with Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS). TSS is a rare but serious disease which can lead to death.
